With the crisp New England weather moving in and the craziness of wedding season slowly drawing to a close, I look back and reflect on some of the biggest wedding trends we have seen these past few years. As new trends move in, I’ll touch on some of my favorites so you can keep a lookout for them come 2018.
Over the past few years we have seen the bohemian themed wedding with romantic lace tied around mason jars, naked cakes, flower crowns, wooden accents and natural pastel palettes. However, come 2018, I expect this trend to have fully run its course- being replaced by enchanted garden weddings with pops of color. Think flowing greenery cascading off guest tables, “unkept” bouquets that have that just picked look or even hanging plants adding to the aesthetic of weddings. What I love about enchanted garden weddings is it’s so versatile! I’ve seen this trend at both indoor and outdoor venues, brides who do and don’t have a budget, as well as, just being incorporated as accent pieces. Greenery brings us back to natural Earth vibes by simply incorporating the natural beauty that surround a typical garden- what could be more beautiful?
Another trend that we seem to be steering away from this season is the abundance of cupcakes on the dessert buffet. From cupcakes being placed on tiers to mimic a cake or being displayed using lifts, cupcakes seem to have had their spot in the spotlight. More and more brides are opting for interactive stations. Have you ever made your own mimosa at a mimosa bar or created your own taco at a taco station? It’s these kind of stations that add to the atmosphere of your wedding; an atmosphere that guests will remember! Come 2018, try having a server walk around offering guests oysters in a portable live oyster shucking station or pass late night snack to the dance floor (comfort food is the best!). Remember, the sky’s the limit so use your imagination and tailor it to your personal style!
Speaking of personal style, ever considered wearing a pant suit? This trend came out in the fall of 2016 and I’m happy to say doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Being continually featured in bridal collections, everyone from Berta to Alexandra Grecco to Oscar de la Renta have jumped on the pantsuit bandwagon.
Not feeling the pantsuit? There are so many other amazing bridal trends to come out for the 2017/2018 season.
