Incorporating your Pup into your Big Day

Have you ever thought about having your adorable puppy strut down the aisle in front of you or have your furry friend featured on Save the Date invitations?! How about bringing the little guy to shoot with you during your engagement session?!… From dressing your pooch up in bowties and florals to making fun signs to hang around their neck during cocktail hour, there are so many unique ways to incorporate your dog into your special wedding celebration.

Let’s take a look at a couple of my favorites!

From engagement shoots to wedding day ring bearers, one of my favorite looks is swapping the dog collar for ribbons and florals. They’ll not only fit right in with the wedding party but also add an extra touch of cuteness to your photos! I was recently at a wedding where the bride included her Frenchie in the ceremony- the pooch sat quietly next to the Maid of Honor and then was handed off to escort and bride and groom back down the aisle during the recessional. You can also make signs like “She said yes!” or “…and they lived happily ever after” to have your pooch tote around during cocktail hour.

How adorable is this Frenchie?! We swapped out her collar for ribbons and florals and I have to say, I don’t think I could be more in love with this little nugget!

Sitting patiently during the ceremony, watching her mom and dad tie the knot!

If you don’t think your four legged friend would be down to get all dolled up with bowties and florals, think about incorporating them just as they are in your engagement photos. The Knot recently featured photos where a golden retriever had an engagement ring balanced on his nose with his parents (slightly out of focus) kissing in the background. How cute would that photo be for Save the Date invites or dropping the news of your engagement on social media! Signs like “I loved her first”, “My humans are getting married” and “Save the Date” are perfect for engagement photo shoots as well.
