2017 Holiday Party Trends
Who doesn’t like the holidays?! Good times with loved ones, co-workers, friends and family and of course delicious food! Capers has been revving up for the 2017 holiday season and I honestly couldn’t be more excited! We broke out the decorations yesterday and I can’t wait to start designing aesthetics based on the 2017 trends we’ve been seeing, both in the catering world as well as the event world.
One of my all-time favorite trends this past year was the explosion of greenery. Notably so, since green was deemed the color of the year. We continually saw the transformation of venues into lush forests and the use of lose greenery in bouquets and throughout guest tables. I’m happy to say this trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, so enchant guests this holiday season with ivy runners, Eucalyptus inspired centerpieces and the use of Myrtle, Fern and Lambs Ear.
With the explosion of social media and the desire to share your life with others; have you ever thought of creating a hashtag for your holiday party?! Something catchy, yet sophisticated. Have fun with it! I recently went to a party where the hashtag was “Stay Social” and the theme was putting yourself out there. They had stunning jewel tones, pops of silver and gold and what I loved most about this party was that they had balloons with the hashtag as the backdrop to their photo booth! It was such a great way to connect with other guests and was a great conversation starter.
Who doesn’t like fun, creative cocktails in cute mason jars or festive mugs!? Come this holiday season, entice your guests with “do it yourself” bars. From Mimosa, Bloody Mary and Sangria Bars for a brunch style get-together to a hot chocolate bar with endless toppings, hard to go wrong when you’re letting you guests choose the toppings!
